Driving around Kingsport I made the following observations:

*On East Stone Drive there is a growing complex of businesses and restaurants (Olives Garden, Star Bucks, Golden Corral, Texas Roadhouse).

*Downtown Kingsport is noted for "Church Circle" with denominations ranging from Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist. Nearly 50% of church population is Baptist affiliations.

*Meadowview golf course there was no one playing. Weather today was warm and passing through this area, I noticed nobody was outside their porches.

*At the Stir Fry Cafe people were enjoying dinner on the sidewalk tables.

*Traveled through low income district. People wer not outside except for a couple of id riding bikes, dogs were within fenced yards. Noted some trash on porches and yards. Most homes had fences a round perimeter.

*While driving to the historic Netherland Inn, noted several 10 speed bikers on city sidewalks. Not all downtown areas had side walks .

*KATS transportation, saw several signs advertising with route schedules. Buses in good condition. May need to expand route to further areas of Kingsport outer city limits.

  • Saw 4 road traffic Round-abouts with number 5 under construction. Traffic flowed well and it was fun going in and out of them.

*Passed the area upon which Kingsport was named (King's Port). Orginally flatbottom boats loaded up supplies such as salt at the North/South fork of Holston Rivers many years ago. The Netherland Inn was the only site as on National Registry of Historic places as both stage coach stop and boat yard.

*Noted bird wildlife on Holston river (heron, ducks, geese). Signs were posted for fishing, but did not see anyone.
